In 2005 plans were set in motion to engineer our walls to comply with building codes for above grade applications. Through the course of the year engineering and architectural designs were developed to accommodate concerns for stacking and hinging. The results of the year long study can be seen in the first multi tier stacked wall houses pictured here.
To stack on the basement walls (10’ high walls resulting in 9’ ceiling) required the first floor joist to be connected with Simpson Strong Tie hangers to rim joist embedded in the top of the 10’ walls. After the first floor sheeting was attached, the first floor walls (9’ high walls resulting in 8’ 4” ceilings) were installed. This step was then repeated for the second floor.
The entire process, including attaching the roof and garage took less than 6 days. A 2,785 sq ft two story with double garage under roof in less than 6 days! Unbelievable!
